Thinking about the present by learning about the past.
Implementation
At Bartley we follow the six-step approach to Historical enquiry: Motivation; collation of information; processing; concluding; refining; demonstration of understanding. Each year, children will be taught two units of work over 6 weeks which builds on previous units. They are encouraged to make links and connections of both Britain's past as well as History from around the world.
INTENT
Our intent at Bartley is that our taught units of History will build upon children’s understanding of the past; where things were different from today (KS1). We aim to foster a love of learning (enquiry) about how significant past events have helped shape the way we live and will continue to evolve our future.
