Curriculum Overviews
Bartley C of E Junior School has implemented new long term overviews for each year group. These compliment the new curriculum because the overviews cover the eight main purposes for writing:
Inform
Explain
Discuss
Describe
Entertain
Advise
Instruct
Persuade
Each year group then plans units of work to reflect these purposes, ensuring that key skills and grammar are taught in tandem. These units will have a theme. For example in the Autumn term Year 6 study explanation texts by designing brand new theme park rides and explaining to would be theme park goers how their ride works!
The long term overviews can be found below in the attached documents, along with suggested text types and the grammar skills to be taught alongside each unit.
